Zur Person:
Postdoctoral researcher
Michael Haylock is an economist at the Health Economics department in Essen at the University of Duisburg-Essen, and is affiliated with CINCH.
Dr. Haylock is an applied microeconomist. In his work on health economics, he researches the determinants of stem cell donor availability, and short and long term pandemic consequences. He has worked closely with DKMS in a research cooperation, the largest registrant of stem cell donors in Germany. In this work, he has focused on reducing attrition of donors, and identifying behavioural mechanisms.
He also researches the determinants of helping and antisocial behaviour in firms using representative data. His work focuses on the interaction of sorting, preferences and personality, which can lead to more prosocial outcomes.
Prior to joining the University of Duisburg-Essen, he was a doctoral student at the University of Tübingen, where his main advisors were Patrick Kampkötter and Valeria Merlo.
